The White Sox are Champs

I love baseball. It was great to see the historic franchise win it's first WS since 1917. I attended a CWS baseball game in Sept. 1990 with my Dad and Uncle Rick. We saw Bobby Thigpen set the single season saves record that day against the Kansas City Royals. Old Comisky Park was a beauty, albeit a run down one at that time. I still have a piece of brick painted white from the stadium that I took out of the right field exterior wall. It was only weeks later that it was torn down and made into a parking lot. New Comisky (US Celluar Field) was looming across the street at that time. I was a big White Sox fan then, Ozzie Guilllen, Frank Thomas, Robin Ventura, Craig Grebeck, Ron Karkovice and the bunch were a promising team at that time. They made it to the ALCS in 1993. Now they organization has the World Series Trophy. Well deserved.

I took Kenden to his first baseball game this September. Cincinnati was playing the Pirates in a meaningless game between two very bad teams. But it wasn't meaningless to us. I'll save those ticket stubs just like I saved the one from September 1985 - my first game, Cincinnati vs. the LA Dodgers at Riverfront Stadium. Kenden and I had a great time. We saw Adam Dunn hit his 39th Home Run. He and Sean Casey are KJ's favorite players. He has been able to say their names since this past Opening Day when I picked him up early from daycare to watch the Reds on TV Joe Randa won it with a walk off HR. Kenden calls them "the baseball Reds". It's too cute. He still asks me sometimes when we get in the car if we are going to the baseball reds game. He's only 2 yrs. 7 months.

Billy and I went to a great Reds game in 2003 when we sat right behind the Reds dugout when they got in a big brawl with the Phillies. It was awesome. In 2004 Billy got on the big screen at the Reds game during a contest where if Sean Casey got a hit Billy would win a Meijer gift card. Casey ground out - he does that alot - but he gets a lot of hits too.

World Series

I'm enjoying the 2005 World Series. They say it's not getting very good ratings - but they aren't watch my TV. I watched game 1 Saturday night with my son and Grandfather at his house. He lived close to Houston for the past 30 years so he and I were rooting hard for the 'Stros as Kenden ran around the trailor playing football. Grandpa made him a big bowl of ice cream and he and Papa Walt played together for a long time. Much longer than Papa should have in his health - but they were both cracking up tickling each other.

The games have all been close and very good. The Sox are on the verge of winning in 4 games. But right now as I type, game 4 is tied 0-0 in the top of the Seventh inning. Who'll be the hero tonight? If it's a White Sox they'll be champions for the first time since 1917.

KJ is upstairs watching Star Wars episode 4 (the original), Wendy is working on a paper she needs to get done before we leave for Florida. Alexa has already layed out the stuff she's packing on her bed. I'm finishing up some laundry in the basement while I watch the WS. We'll all pack tommorow night and leave Friday AM.

Some big news

We are going to Disney World! The kids have a Fall break from school and we driving to Florida to spend a week at the Port Orleans Riverside resort at Disney. We bought the park hopper plan for 7 days with meals included. It should be completely awesome to watch the kids explore the parks. Kenden will be a handful as he is good at getting into everything and running off in public spaces if we let him. We won't let him do that at Disney for sure!

I built a new gaming PC a couple weeks ago from newegg.com and eBay. It runs my games the way they are meant to be played. Right now Battlefield 2 and Tiger Woods 2005 are getting the most play time. The kids like playing the Sims, and Kenden likes using my racing wheel to play NASCAR.

PC specs ($565 shipped): AMD Sempron 3100+, MSI K8Neo3 MoBo, LeadTek GeForce 6600 Nvidia 256MB Video card, Samsung Spinpoint 120GB HD, Samsung DVD/CD dual layer burner. I'm using my Samsugn 17 inch flat panel I won from Samsung's Hope for Education contest back in March.
